Apple launched a 24" iMac last night.
Thanks to the wonders of service, servicing, and manuals, here's the interesting stuff they don't mention online:
- The front screws off now -- no card malarkey.
- The unit supports up to 3GB of PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2 RAM. You can physically install up to 4GB (2x2GB), but anything over 3GB is ignored. Bizarre. Hopefully there is something technical behind this, and it's not something Apple has artificially enforced.
- The video card is not part of the logic board, and removable. The future is upgrades! (Maybe...)
That last point could turn out interesting. A return to the days of hacking Voodoo cards into iMac G3s...
Hurrah singles from Dixons on Brunswick Street. Six dollars later, and I have taaaannngerines!
Walking out of that place having only spent $6 is some kind of record...
So, now I can finally play Katamari! The original was never released in Australia, so it's all about We ♥ Katamari.
Hrm, Camino hasn't handled that heart well at all. Wonder how it posts...
I got here late on Saturday, I fell over at Chadstone on Sunday, I made Melanie a G5 on Tuesday, I ate pizza at Café Corretto with Boney on Wednesday, I bought shirts and shoes today, I (currently) have no plans for tomorrow, I have no plans for the weekend, and work starts on Monday.
Woo!
I've been using LiveJournal since the end of 2001. It's been home to my random babble since then, except for the occasional music piece that hits Last.fm.
Here I am with a Vox account. How shiny are its features? How well will it play with teh ElJay? How easily can I read my friends' stuff, both here and there? And, shock, should I switch?
But, enough of the big issues. This is a toy -- let's play!
